Ping S59 Irons Review

Anyone looking for a PGA Tour-worthy set of clubs should look no further than the Ping S59 Irons.

This series of clubs was designed to suit the game of low-handicap golfers. It has a tour-inspired blade with a compact head and a minimal offset, but there is also a thin top line and cambered sole to make it easier to align correctly. The small cavity adds to the forgiveness, making mis-hits less costly.

One differentiator in the Ping S59 Irons is that the center of gravity is located closer to the clubface than in other sets. As a result, the Ping S59 Irons foster a penetrating ball flight. The bar across the cavity helps add a measure of distance control, and though the clubs are cast rather than forged, they still offer outstanding feel.

The Ping S59 Irons enjoyed a lot of success on the professional circuit when they first came out, with Miguel Jimenez who using them to earn four championships on the European tour in 2004. The original MSRP was $1,200, but because it's an older model they can usually be found for less.
