Nike SQ Sumo2 Hybrid Irons Review

They make look unconventional, but the Nike SQ Sumo2 Hybrid Irons get the job done on the course.

The feature that is most noticeable in the Nike SQ Sumo2 Hybrid Irons is the square clubhead, designed to produce greater velocity and accuracy. Nike's patented PowerBow weighting concentrates mass in the back perimeter, increasing forgiveness on off-center hits and expanding the hitting zone.

It's a more forgiving set of clubs, in part because of its heavy reliance on hybrids. With a 4H, 5H, 6H and 7H in the set, it's a series of clubs that can be used anywhere on the course, in fairway or rough. The eights and nines are traditional irons, and there's also a PW and AW standard.

It isn't all about forgiveness, however. The hot cryo steel face in the Nike SQ Sumo2 Hybrid Irons increases distance because it's both lightweight and responsive, transferring energy efficiently to the ball and making it easy to generate length. A TPU insert completes the package by dampening vibrations at impact for a better feel.

The Nike SQ Sumo2 Hybrid Irons carry a suggested retail price of $1099 in graphite and $999 in steel shafts, and are a very user-friendly set of clubs for those looking for irons that are a pleasure to hit.
