In addition, the Mizuno MP-52 Irons have a patented CNC-milled pocket cavity, one that conforms to the recent USGA groove rulings scheduled to take effect in January 2010. Two crescent-shaped grooves are milled into each the clubhead of each iron, creating 14 extra grams of discretionary weight to be redeployed in the clubs' perimeter in order to increase the MOI. That makes the irons more forgiving, while still providing enough thickness behind the hitting area for a superior feel.
